Dwight (6) is a Belgian Malinois from Bosnia and Herzegovina that started on a raw food diet 3 months old. “Dwight is very active malinois. He is raw fed since 3 months old. I used to feed BARF till he was 2, then I switched him to PMR. I still give him some fruit and vegetables occasionally, but that’s very rare. He is overall healthy, only had Piroplasmosis when he was 6 months, and raw food did help him to recover fast from the illness. Since then, he has perfect health.”

My comment: Piroplasmosis is an infectious disease which is caused by the Babesia parasites. It is not so common here in the US but it can lead to very serious issues even death. The reason I’m posting this is that most infectious diseases can be managed much better in a raw fed dog. Any dog can get ill for various reasons. What matter is how the body reacts to the pathogens entering the body. From the data from my study, there is a noticeable trend showing that raw fed dogs recover faster and with less discomfort from a condition. This is just an observation but it makes total sense. When you feed the right food the body also builds up organ reserves when it comes to resources needed during times of illness and famine. I have created a separate study to look deeper into this. It is difficult since there is no good data to compare to. There is another trend that is interesting. When prescription medication is given short term the side effects seem to be less in raw fed dogs. Again this is just an observation but it makes sense. I’m collecting more data on this too.
